Purpose:
With the number of animals being cared for at Nature’s Nursery each year, a tremendous amount of resources are dedicated to both maintaining the upkeep of the facility and ensuring that supplies are clean and readily accessible for rehabilitation and education staff and volunteers.
The purpose of the facility cleaning volunteer is to assist staff and other volunteers with deep cleaning of all areas of the facility as needed and on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and hallways
- Help to maintain the cleanliness of the clinic and rehabilitation rooms
- Wash sheets, blankets and bedding used by patients
- Fold and organize clean laundry
- Ensure that appropriate caging and supplies are ready for incoming wild patients
- Assist with deep cleaning as needed, and where needed
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 14 years’ old
- Attend Volunteer Orientation and training once per year
- Able to read and follow directions
- Must work well with others as well as independently
- Comfortable with seeing/handling feeder rodents and other feeder animals, often cut up
- Able to handle harsh animal smells and cleaning products
- Able to bend, squat, and lift/carry 10-15lbs comfortably
- Up to date Tetanus vaccination
- Rabies vaccination not necessary, but would be helpful
- Be detail oriented with good organizational skills
- Be willing to adopt, support, and communicate the mission of Nature’s Nursery
Time Commitment:
- Time commitment is dependent on season and needs
- 2-4 hours per week (8-16 hours per month)
