
Website Nature's Nursery
Purpose:
Work on-site in the nursery feeding and caring for baby animals of all species under supervision of staff and summer interns.
Essential Duties:
- Prep baby diets
- Follow a feeding schedule
- Daily weight checks on all baby animals
- Care of juvenile animals of all species
- Detailed charting required
- Types of feeding include tube, syringe, tong
- Clean/disinfect and restock supplies
- Enter care information into RaptorMed
- Notify staff of any animal issues
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years old
- Attend Volunteer Orientation and training once per year
- Have health insurance and be up to date on tetanus vaccination (having rabies pre-exposure vaccination will allow you to work with a wider variety of species- but not required)
- Ability to commit to a minimum of one 4 hour shift each week
- Good communication skills
- Ability to use good judgement
- Ability to deal with death
- Basic computer skills
- Be willing to adopt, support, and communicate the mission of Nature’s Nursery
Time Commitments:
- Available 8:30 AM-12:30 PM at least once a week (subject to change)
- During busy season top-off shift may be available also from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM
