
Website Nature's Nursery
Purpose:
Work with the Hotline Volunteer/Staff as well as the client to transport injured or orphaned animals to the center
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend Transport Training session provided by Nature’s Nursery to learn how to be prepared and use appropriate methods of capture
- Work well with the public representing Nature’s Nursery
- Contact clients to get directions and specifications of situation
- Know when to stop and reassess a situation
- Willingness to occasionally keep animals overnight in your home if circumstances require it
- Train with staff on proper techniques to capture varied species of animals
- Can be done concurrently with other volunteer positions/
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years old
- Attend Volunteer Orientation and training once per year
- Have a reliable vehicle
- Effective communication skills
- Remain calm and patient with animals as well as public
- Able to handle seeing animals sometimes severely injured
- Basic computer skills
- Up to date Tetanus vaccination
- Rabies vaccination not necessary, but would be helpful
- Be willing to adopt, support, and communicate the mission of Nature’s Nursery
Time Commitment:
The time commitment for transport varies according to client calls, location of animal, and other transport volunteers available.
